The Creative Workforce : Always Rooney Shop
Courtney is the creator and owner of Always Rooney Shop, where she creates and sells handmade goods from real materials like leather and wood. I first became a fan of her shop after reading her blog Always Rooney where she shared about her business and her awesome DIY projects. I love her unique style and her creativity to make some beautiful products for us to enjoy.

Tell me a little about who you are & what you do.
I'm Courtney Kennedy, I'm a 21 year old blogger and Etsy shop owner. I make personalized passport cases and other small travel accessories.
How did you find you were good at making things with your hands?
In high school I really found I loved to make things with my hands because of an engineering class. We learned everything from electrical wiring, to building downhill race cars, to welding. Since then, I have really been interested in learning new skills and seeing how those skills can work together to create something new.

Why did you decide to start your own business?
I started my business on a whim because I was searching for a job and figured an Etsy shop could bring in some side revenue. A few weeks in, I stopped the job search and took the plunge to do it full time!
What are some challenges you face with owning your own business?
Owning your own business without any business background and little planning can be challenging but I see it as a learning as I go experience and a daily choice to trust God. I've messed up many, many times and had awesome moments through this business journey and the challenge is to keep going and to work harder than the day before.
What is the best part of your job?
The freedom to travel and truly enjoy what I do!

Where do you live, & what is your favorite thing about where you live?
I live in Springfield, Missouri. The best part about Springfield is the community of people.
Would you ever want to relocate?
Yes! I don't know where, but I don't consider Springfield "home" quite yet.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I love a good round of golf :)
Some advice that you can give to creative business owners?
Don't be afraid to ask for help! Also, don't think you have to have it all together.

I was not compensated to create this post and all opinions are my own. The Creative Workforce is a section in my blog to promote small and local business that are having a positive impact in their realm and are striving for excellence in their craft and social awareness. These are businesses that are continually pushing to take our world forward through their creative expression.
